What exactly is a good film?

It’s completely subjective. Ask a man or woman who is 60yrs old, born and lived in India and has a love of Bollywood films then Bobby by Raj Kapoor comes to mind. Now, many of you are saying what? The same may apply if the Indian man or woman had been born in India but grew up in the UK from their mid-twenties. Ask an Nigerian woman in her 30s and the result may be The Wedding Party. Again you may be saying what? A film that was made in the second largest film industry in the world, Nollywood only behind the largest film industry in the world, Bollywood.

So there you have it. Two good, no great films in the opinion of many for sure. What makes a film good for me? A professional actors viewport can be a bit skewed. Also if you seek out films where you’re left with goosebumps and shake your head in admiration. One such film that did this to be recently was Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It was magical in that the acting performances were superb and it was a film with depth. I went away wanting to watch all other films by a number of actors in this film. That’s the impact this film had on me. For me I can appreciate the subjective view of what constitutes a good film. 😌
