Broken Vines

Poetry prompt — Broken from the inside

George Lamptey
1 min readJun 11, 2021

Jagged dreams
Colours, trees, lilac, storms, noise, fear, many, time, end, dark, tense, pain

This cerebral pin ball
Darting
Slowing
Then speeding
Hitting left and right
Rising higher than the edge
Then…
Tipping over
The journey starts

It may be momentary
That troublesome itch
Leaving grazes on the fuzzy mesh
Internal pain
Transcending veins
You must be broken on the inside

It’s a trial
You know it now
So beat the heart and gather strength
Rising like the rollercoaster
Healing weathered thoughts
Dancing dandelion feathers
Floating
Flying with you
Mending purple vines

Thank you for inviting me to this poetry prompt Melanie J. and thank you Sahil Patel for giving birth to this prompt ‘Broken from the inside’. It took me to a dream state (maybe one I had in the past lingering still, who knows? 😊) giving rise to the above poem.
